My new roommate

A friend of mine recently killed his motorcycle. The oil pump failed and it starved his engine of oil, thus seizing the motor. Being a BMW kinda guy, but owning a Kawasaki, he decided to wash his hands of it and sell it for really cheap. Being the same bike as mine, I had to step up and claim it. This bike has every mod or farkle that you could ever want to upgrade too. It has the shocks and suspension I was about to purchase. It has the happy trail hard bags that I've been drooling over. New muffler, steel braided lines, cruise control, PIAA lights, intense crash bars, and more.

Ultimately I will part the bike out and sell what I don't need. The only problem I have right now is that I have nowhere to put it. The crank case is exposed, so it can't get wet, so I can't leave it outside or in my collapsing mildew spider infested garage. Only logical place to put it...

A room in the house. Blakers is gonna be so happy.

Long time coming

Borrowed a garage for a couple weeks. Moto-entropy has been catching up with me so I am holed up in a condemned garage with little light and surprisingly little room because every few feet there's a ceiling leak from the pools of rainwater that have collected on the roof and are seeping in. It's a lot of water. Two of the ceiling rafters have buckled under the weight and are being held up with makeshift stilts … and to think of all those suburban garages crammed full of canned foods from Costco, Christmas decorations, and bikes that never see the light of day. There's no justice in this world.

From the top: carb cleaning and syncing, new steering stem bearings, new plugs, oil filter and change, new choke cable, new clutch cable, brake overhaul, dashboard lights, radiator flush, and finally: new-old fairings. Got a short list of other things I'd like to get done but it'll have to wait. Need to get the bike back to life for a trip in a few weeks.
